ARA KOUFAX (Luke Neher & Sam Gill) are a Melbourne-based production duo.
Over the past four years, Ara Koufax have released music on Cutters Records (2015’s Adult Concepts EP, and ‘Brenda’ – a feature on the Cut Copy curated ‘Oceans Apart’ compilation), NYC-based CSCN (2016’s ‘Kissy Fits’), and Fort Romeau’s imprint Cin Cin (2017’s ‘Natural States / Test Dream’ – featured on Tim Sweeney’s Beats in Space Best of 2017. Their latest release, ‘Shame / Shades of Blue’, was released in April 2018 and received airplay from triple j, Double J, and KCRW. Ara Koufax have also contributed live mixes to The Lot Radio in NYC and triple j in Australia, and have remixed for the likes of Marcus Marr (UK) and Cut Copy.
The pair have performed together in cities and at festivals throughout Australia, Asia, the United States and Europe, and have supported Todd Terje, Julio Bashmore, Marcus Marr, Bonobo and Cut Copy. They have also performed at Sugar Mountain Festival, Listen Out Festival, Splendour in the Grass and Melbourne Music Week in Australia.
The duo’s work – which oscillates between experiments in house, techno and noise – has drawn attention from the likes of Tim Sweeney, Caribou’s Dan Snaith, Jamie xx, Pitchfork, Mixmag, Future Classic Recommends, and BBC Radio 1.
